Carbon markets are among the most complex and consequential policy instruments available for driving emissions reductions. I bring deep expertise in their design, analysis, and implications — particularly in the Indian context, where the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) is now taking shape.
What I do
- ETS design and assessment — analysing the structure, coverage, price trajectory, and distributional implications of emission trading schemes
- Carbon credit frameworks — understanding how carbon credits are generated, verified, and traded, and the role they play in national and international climate policy
- Modelling-based analysis — using integrated assessment models to assess the macroeconomic and sectoral implications of carbon pricing
- Policy engagement — presenting research findings to Niti Aayog, the Ministry of Power, and other government bodies on the role of market-based instruments in India’s net-zero strategy
Past work
- Led modelling-based research on the implications of India’s CCTS for its net-zero strategy, published in Environmental Research Letters (2024)
- Presented findings on India’s ETS at Niti Aayog, the Carbon Markets Association of India, and the Integrated Assessment Modelling Consortium (IAMC)
- Co-authored op-eds on India’s emissions trading system in New Indian Express and Moneycontrol
Who I work with
Government ministries, regulatory bodies, carbon market associations, think tanks, and financial institutions engaged with climate transition risk.
